Welcome, travel friends!!!
This is Overpackers Anonymous
It’s fitting that I’m writing this first post from an airplane.
In my BRIDES magazine era, it might’ve been en route to a far-flung honeymoon locale, like Bora Bora or the Maldives (both of which are exceptional), or while reviewing a five-star hotel in Paris as an editor at Travel + Leisure. Alas, this time it’s only flying home from Florida with my three littles in tow, but I’m a firm believer that every trip is an opportunity to grow and expand, so be on the lookout for a forthcoming recap with timely family travel insights.
After 15 years as a travel journalist working with the industry’s leading publications and hospitality brands (be it on staff, as a freelance contributor, or consultant), I’m privileged with insider access to timely travel news, destination updates, hotel openings, and deals. My inbox is constantly overloaded with intel and much of the reporting I do for published articles naturally gets distilled down for space, leaving valuable insights on the cutting room floor. So as the media landscape continues to evolve, platforms like Substack offer an exciting opportunity to build my own community and share a more personal, unfiltered take on what I find relevant in today’s travel landscape.
My goal with Overpackers Anonymous (a cheeky moniker I coined many years ago, owing to my inability to travel light) is to provide quick, user-friendly intel on the places and things that excite me. From chic hotels to family-friendly destinations, honeymoon hot lists to shopping and packing recommendations, consider Overpackers Anonymous your expert source, straight from the travel industry to your own inbox.
Off and away we go!
